Our busy boys, shared passion for teaching, and desire to build a homeschool curriculum that works for our schedules - while being working moms - is where it all started.
Our boys were born just before COVID and with the uncertainty of school schedules, some current events, and our children's love for learning we both began searching for homeschool curriculums, resources, guides, etc...
Busy Bee Homeschool has become a place where we want to share our research with you. In the sea of homeschool curriculums, opinions about a public education, and the stigma of being a working mom we are standing together to take our children's education into our own hands.
With Amanda's brain and Tegra's creativity, it's coming together perfectly and so much fun. It's definitely hard work but parenting is hard work and an investment and also the greatest adventure as parents. The time, the relationship building, and so much more that you are investing on your child(ren).

"My husband and I were both in public school but we wanted something different for our children. We wanted our time to explore this beautiful world together and to not be put in a box with learning and schedules. We want our children to be children and have there personality blossom. We didn't envision our children in school for 8+ hours and having that time taken from us. Having a confident and respectful relationship with our children is very important to us. No one else is going to love and care for my children like my husband and I can. We are 100% invested in our children. So our homeschool journey started in 2021 but in 2020 was when all the research started. From what I needed to do in our state to be able to homeschool, searching curriculum that best fit us as a family, and designing a space for our school in our home (which looks nothing like school). I'm a very organized person so it took most of 2020 to get our work space complete but we are still always changing things to best fit our home and family. But it wasn't just about our space it was about how I envisioned our school, what learning style my children learn best with, exploring curriculums, and how I as a mother can be the best at showing a love of learning. So we jumping into the Good & the Beautiful and we loved the language arts, science, and writing. Math we felt was too advanced by lesson 20 so we switched to Math with Confidence. Don't get me wrong I love both and they do a beautiful job. I just felt something was missing and I was being spread thin with working full time and trying to piece everything together. Multiple books out and feeling like I was failing my children. In came 2023 and God was showing me signs of ways to better our learning and trusting him so I stopped doubting myself and I trusted God to show me the way. After all the doubt, I talked with my sister in law about my plans and she was right there with me and here we are starting this journey and I'm so excited to share this adventure with you all." -Tegra

"Covid has been going on for most of my son's life. When it came time for preschool, I couldn't imaging putting my son in school just to be out every other week or trying to do online education. Also with the events happening around the country I wasn't sold with going the traditional public education route. I started doing some more research and working with my sister in law to find curriculum that would be right fit for my very active little boy. We started with the Good and the Beautiful and liked it at first. As we started getting about half way through my son said to me "Mommy can we just do one letter at a time it is hard for me to focus." Yes he actually said focus my son has a rather larger vocabulary for a 5 year old. Then we started on the hunt again. I found a lot of curriculums that were similar that were too advanced or just not what we wanted. When T asked about building a curriculum I was so excited. We could teach what we wanted and get the kids involved in what they wanted to learn." -Amanda
